Physical Therapist

Katie Avila

Katie received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2018. She began her clinical career as a travel physical therapist and has worked in public schools, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient pediatrics. She has taken additional coursework in Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), Total Motion Release (TMR), Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), Mary Massery’s posture and breathing techniques, and utilizing strength and power training in pediatric populations. She is able to use assessments for early detection of cerebral palsy in infants (TIMP, HINE, and HNNE tests). She enjoys teaching and helping grow the PT profession as an APTA Certified Clinical Instructor and the Co-Chair of the APTA Pediatrics Fact Sheet Committee. On the weekends, Katie loves painting, hiking with her dog and partner, and traveling with family and friends.
